ALPSS Vision and Philosophy
The ALPSS non-traditional, post-baccalaureate educator preparation program at CESA 4 will provide districts, schools, and individual teachers with standards-aligned, proficiency-based, innovative, relevant professional learning that meets varying needs, enhances understanding of best practice and ultimately raises student achievement. Methodology includes a job-embedded, learn-by-doing approach that models effective instruction for deep, personalized learning. This method prepares candidates for career opportunities as highly qualified teachers.
Program Overview
- Whether pursuing a career change or looking to do something different with your degree, CESA 4 offers a pathway to becoming a teacher.
- If you have a Bachelor’s Degree in any area outside of education, our DPI-approved, 11-month program consisting of rigorous and relevant courses, on-the-job learning, and support from ALPSS faculty will prepare you to become a licensed teacher.
- ALPSS coursework begins in September and ends in June. The majority of the courses will last approximately 4-6 weeks and will housed on Canvas.
- Throughout the program, you will be mentored by course instructors who are readily available to answer your questions and support you in the process.
- You will be expected to attend all seminars where you will learn and network with other candidates and instructors.
- Included in the program are pre-student teaching and a semester of student teaching experiences that are designed to prepare you to enter the classroom upon finishing the program.
- After completion of the program, your ALPSS advisor will continue to connect with you as well as professional development opportunities will be available for the following school year to support your continuous improvement.
