Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is a scientifically valid framework based on brain research that provides educators with a structure to proactively design instruction, the learning environment, and experiences to meet the wide range of diversity among all learners. UDL aims at reducing barriers for ALL students in an inclusive classroom by making learning accessible, usable, and beneficial.
UDL Forward! is a project supporting Wisconsin educators’ use of Universal Design for Learning core competencies and technology resources as a means to provide effective remote and in-person learning experiences.
Upcoming events designed to help Wisconsin educators apply UDL thinking to design for learners who very:
UDL Forward Community
This is an always on and always available resource that supports Wisconsin educators with making sense of UDL by linking their lived experience to the concepts and constructs of UDL. Each month, you will find resources around themes and be provided with the opportunity to interact with others who are also on the UDL journey. In addition, you will find information about the monthly Community of Practices by clicking on the events tab.
Learning Design Labs
Facilitation and coaching supports will assist participants to design flexible learning goals, student options, materials, and assessments for real-world learning design scenarios. Breakout rooms for educators can be provided for those in similar roles or with particular design needs.
Community of Practice
Learn and share how expert learners develop and what’s working in settings across Wisconsin. Conversations to push thinking, and critically examine UDL implementation priorities will help participants use UDL as a framing for education justice through a statewide professional learning network.
