Creating Curricular Systems to Enhance Student Achievement
This process is appropriate for teams who already have materials and want to enhance their use to increase student achievement or for teams who are researching new materials to assist with the process of choosing and implementing those materials.
Pre-Adoption
In this synchronous course (8 hours + 2 hours pre-work), teams will plan for a successful materials implementation process by diving into Implementation Science and understanding the stages of Exploration, Installation, Initial Implementation and Full Implementation. This will set teams up to select materials that are aligned to the Wisconsin State Standards and also address specific needs within the district.
Intended Audience: Adoption/Implementation Teams
Creating a Vision
In this asynchronous mini-course (3 hours + 1 hour check-in), teams will envision what it looks like, sounds like, feels like for content specific instructional excellence and then reflect on these descriptors to identify the practices and changes that need to happen within your school.
Intended Audience: Adoption/Implementation Teams
Prepare to Launch
In this synchronous course (12 hours), teams will create a detailed implementation plan to launch the new materials. This implementation plan will include: setting goals, determining roles, creating an assessment and grading plan, setting expectations for implementation integrity, and determining a plan for initial and ongoing training and coaching.
Intended Audience: Adoption/Implementation Teams
Roles and Goal Setting
In this asynchronous mini-course (3 hours +1 hour check-in), teams will determine goals around student and teacher investment, teacher practice, and student outcomes. Teams will also determine necessary roles and responsibilities for implementation integrity.
Intended Audience: Adoption/Implementation Teams
Creating Systematic Expectations
In this asynchronous mini-course (3 hours +1 hour check-in), teams will create a tight/loose document that will assist with maintaining and sustaining full implementation which will allow for all parties to be crystal clear on expectations of instruction and student learning.
Intended Audience: Adoption/Implementation Teams
Effective Professional Learning
In this synchronous course (16 hours), teams will understand the structures and elements of effective learning and determine stakeholders involved throughout the entire process. Teams will establish a professional learning system to implement high quality materials to create a guaranteed and viable curriculum. During this course teams will focus on professional learning on the implementation of materials, the professional learning on the selected materials, as well as, job embedded, ongoing professional learning.
Intended Audience: Adoption/Implementation Teams
After the Launch
In this blended course (6 hours synchronous - 6 hours asynchronous team time), teams will create a Practice Profile to determine what full implementation of the materials looks like. The team will also create a plan for reviewing and analyzing data and adjusting the plan as necessary.
Intended Audience: Adoption/Implementation Teams
Using Your PLC to Enhance HQIM
In this synchronous course (16 hours), teams will learn how to effectively use the PLC process to ensure implementation integrity and raise student achievement. Teams will determine priority standards, create a common assessment timeline, and understand how to use assessment tools in the materials to determine instructional needs of students and professional learning needs of teachers.
Intended Audience: PLC Teams, Instructional Coaches, Administrators
